PTO Programs for 2007-2008 Art Masterpiece Program- Class presentations of famous
Artists and their work. All materials and instruction are provided. No
experience required. Volunteers are needed for every classroom. The program
begins in January and runs through April. A great way to be involved in
your childs’ class. The children love bringing home their own art
masterpieces. New Family Welcome program- This program is designed
to welcome new families to our little community. We try to call each new
family in the beginning of the school year to answer any questions they
might have and to make them feel welcome at our school. We also try to
encourage the new families to become involved in the school. Friends of the Library Program- This program directly
helps the library in obtaining new books for its collection, as well as
providing an opportunity for parents to recognize their special students.
Parents, friends, or family members may purchase a book for the library
in honor of their student. Each book contains the students name for whom
it was purchased and the reason they received such an honor. The participating
students then get to go to a book presentation breakfast with the librarian,
Mrs. Ireland, and the principal, Ms. Donovan, at the end of the year.
Each child receives a commemorative picture with their book. Creative Events Program- This program brings two assembly
style programs to the school for the enjoyment and education of the students.
There will be one in the fall and one in the spring. Dates and events
are yet to be determined. We are actively seeking a chairperson to head
up this program for the year. Hospitality Committee- This committee is responsible
for providing meals for the teachers during parent/teacher conference
weeks. It is an excellent way to show your appreciation for your teachers! Pizza Night Program- This program is designed as a fundraiser
in coordination with a local pizza company. The pizza company designates
certain nights as our school’s night. All our families have to do
is order their pizza and we receive a percentage of the sales generated
from Heights families. Box Tops Program- This program is a simple straight
forward way to earn money for our school. The chairperson for this program
is responsible for organizing class contests for the students to bring
in box tops cut from products such as Kleenex, Pillsbury, various cereals,
etc.. They are responsible for sending in the box tops and acting as the
contact between the company and the school. Library Helper - Due to budget cuts this year, Mrs.
Ireland is requesting parent volunteers to help out in the library. Various
time commitments and duties will be determined by Mrs. Ireland.
